I was watching Sky News this week and in particular their #morningstory feature. It featured a mum, pretty much the same age as me, talking about the difficulty she has encountered trying to juggle work and family (please scroll down to watch the video).
This story really resonated with me. Not only is it very similar to my own, but those of the franchisees who join Lingotot.
I was a successful languages teacher before founding Lingotot and I LOVED my job. However when my first daughter was born my priorities changed. I would have loved a part time teaching job, but they are so very rare and no one wants to hire a woman of childbearing years with the prospect of a maternity leave or two looming. Of course no one is allowed to say this out loud, but us 30-something professionals face this regularly.
So I had to create my own perfect job and Lingotot was born mere weeks after my firstborn. I ADORE my role as franchisor and my favourite part of the job is helping women start their own Lingotot children's language franchise business and finally find that elusive work-life balance with a professional and flexible working.
